Canadian Sphagnum Peat Moss
Natural Soil Amendment to Support Plant Root Growth

Nature’s Growing Medium, Harvested with Care.
Aurora Peat’s Canadian Sphagnum Peat Moss is a premium-grade soil amendment harvested from sustainably managed peatlands in Canada. Renowned for its exceptional water-holding capacity, low bulk density, and natural ability to improve soil structure, it is a versatile component in horticulture, greenhouse production, landscaping, and home gardening. The peat moss is carefully screened, graded, and packaged to ensure consistent particle size and quality.
Because of its purity and consistency, Aurora Peat’s Canadian Sphagnum Peat Moss is especially valued by mushroom farmers, retail nurseries, and tree farming. Its uniform particle size promotes even aeration and root development, while its superior water-holding capacity supports healthy, vigorous plants throughout every growth stage. By using peat moss, growers can rely on predictable performance and stable results harvest after harvest.
With a commitment to environmental stewardship, Aurora Peat Products follows industry-leading practices for peatland restoration and regeneration, ensuring that their harvesting methods support long-term ecological sustainability while delivering a top-quality product to growers and gardeners alike.
High moisture retention capacity
Naturally acidic pH (~3.5–4.5), ideal for acid-loving plants
Improves soil structure and nutrient absorption
Free from many weed seeds and soil-borne diseases.
How It Works
Our sphagnum peat moss is composed of partially decomposed sphagnum moss plants that have accumulated over centuries in cool, wet bog environments. The plant cell walls are made up of unique polysaccharides that can absorb and retain large amounts of water—up to 20 times their weight—while still allowing air exchange for root respiration. Its fibrous structure increases soil porosity, which promotes root development and nutrient uptake in a variety of crops, including mushrooms and tree farms. The naturally low pH (typically 3.5–4.5) helps acidify alkaline soils and makes it ideal for acid-loving plants such as blueberries, azaleas, and rhododendrons.
